English languajes challenges

Since I was little I remember that I liked very much learning english and languajes in general, and I enjoyed having classes because I had a really good english teacher at school. Then, when I left school I stopped practicing and I wasn't very related to it because in my first two years of university I did not do the english courses, so when I came to this classes at university, I had lost my “training”. At the beggining I didn't like the metholodogy of writting blogs or the topics that we used to review, because I thought that they wasn't very appropriate to a university level and to my carreer. At that moment I expected a more advanced level, but then I realice that I needed to strengthen what I knew at that moment to improve my vocabulary, my speaking and writting. So now I look back and Im grateful to take this courses to recover my practice. Outside the english class I speak very little this languaje, so I think that is my greater disadvantage, and I...

Changing the Study Programme

The English program of the university is required in all the careers. Today it is believed that learn english opens opportunities in the laboral field. I’m not too sure about this, I don’t think that someone must be defined for their english level, because there are many factors that  influenced the access to good courses of this language.  Not all the people have the chance to have a good base in the school, so I think in the English of the university as a leveling course. For this, I considered that is very important to have a complete program and great teachers that have the abilities and the intentions to transmit their knowledge. To be honest in this blog, I don’t feel so agreed with the contents that the English courses incorporated, because it didn’t give you the necessary tools to really learn english. I have always thought that the best way to incorporated a new language is in a country or city where this language is spoken.  Referring to the methods o...

Current Issues

The 7th of november of this year, the government of Chile started a plan called "Humanitarian Return Plan", that consists in flights paid by the state to take back voruntarily Haitian immigrants, that have a precarious situation in Chile, to their country. The first flight was on november 7th with 176 Haitian as passangers, and the second flight was on november 26th in which returned 179 people to their country, Haití, with a commitment of not comming back to Chile in 9 years time. The people from the government have told that this measure was carried out because lots of people from this specific country, have had a lot of troubles and obstacles to get a job and to settle down in Chile, and not because they are taking them out. In my opinion, this situation is a much bigger problem and it won't end with the departure of these people. The fact that they had to make the decision to leave the country they had just arrived in search of better jobs opportunities, without...

Post graduate studies

Journalism is a career that has different areas that allow the journalists to choose what they want to do in the future, and this characteristic make possible to relate the journalist work with other disciplines. From the beginning when I started to study this career I always wanted to continue studying something else, like post graduate studies. But now that I'm in third year of my career I started to doubt it because of the time and the money. Probably I'll do it anyway, but not immediatly after I finish undergraduate. Maybe in a couple of years, if I'm working and earning my own money I wouldn't refuse to take any course. In my opinion nowdays a post graduate study is very important for a professional, even more that get just a college degree. I would love to take some postgraduate in other country specially Spain or England, because I also would love to live there some time. At the time I'm not very sure about what type of course I'll take but I think ...

My future job

I started to study journalism because I think it is a career in which I could mix my different skills and interests. I like to write, to investigate, to watch series and movies, and I love to travel to other countries. I’ve always liked cinema and cultural issues in general. I enjoy more been a spector of movies and works than creating it, thats why I didn't study cinema or something related to that. A good job for me would be something that makes me travel, and in which I could investigate about theories, and studies of the cinema in different places. One of the countries that I would love to visit and work are Spain, Germany and Australia, for it's cinema culture, languages and accents. Other thing that I like very much are the enviromental topics, so I would enjoy travelling to different places of Chile, investigating and making reports about nature and the lack of care for the environment in the country. I would hate to work in an office all day, that...

Pets

I have had only two pets in my life and both are dogs, that’s why I am a full doglover. The first dog I had, came to my house when I was about 7 or 8 years old by accident. He was a labrador named Cristobal and lived with my ancle for a year. My uncle and his family had to move from his home to a smaller house but this dog was too big to the space at this new place. So my family received him in my home and from then till last year he lived with us. Practically I spent all my childhood with him so he was very important in my life, because he was like another member of the family. By the way, I have a tattoo of him in my leg in sign of love. He was a very calm, sweet and friendly dog. In fact, all the people that met him adored him.  In january 2017 he died because he was too old and it was very painful for me and my family. A year and a half later, that is to say this month, I adopted a dog that was with his mother in a street near my house. He is two months, so now...
